I was born and raised in Northwest Jacksonville on contaminated soil. I was bused across the bridge throughout elementary because my neighborhood schools weren’t afforded the same resources other schools had.

I lost my favorite cousin to gun violence by way of the school-to-prison pipeline.
I know what it’s like to see my mom struggle to put food on the table. I remember her sometimes working two jobs to make sure my brother and I had clothes to wear and Christmas presents to open.

No family should ever have to go through this. Our communities deserve to no longer just survive, they deserve to thrive! They deserve to FLOURISH!
